The Federal Government has said the upcoming National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reflect the party’s unity, internal democracy, and commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Thursday in Abuja during a World Media Briefing ahead of the party’s 8th National Convention scheduled for March 27–28, 2026.

He described the convention as a crucial milestone for the ruling party, noting that delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will converge to elect leaders, review policies, and set the party’s future direction.

“This is beyond a routine political gathering; it is a moment for reflection, consolidation, and strategic planning,” he said.

According to Idris, the convention underscores the APC’s determination to strengthen democratic values, improve internal governance, and align its operations with national development goals.

With the theme “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said the event highlights the party’s focus on inclusiveness, continuity, and cohesion, while supporting the administration’s broader policy direction.

He added that the APC has grown into a resilient political platform capable of managing leadership transitions in a transparent and orderly manner, stressing that its diversity remains key to national unity and progress.

The minister assured Nigerians and the international community that all preparations have been concluded to ensure a smooth and credible exercise at Eagle Square, Abuja.

He also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his role in strengthening democracy and promoting inclusivity within the party.

Other top government officials and party stakeholders, including Hannatu Musawa, Festus Keyamo, Sunday Dare, and Bayo Onanuga, were present at the briefing.

The convention is expected to play a key role in shaping the APC’s future as it seeks to consolidate governance and strengthen democratic institutions in Nigeria.
