The Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly opposed any move to endorse President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, described such an endorsement as “immoral, unjust, and improper” for a party positioned as an opposition.
Ememobong stressed that the PDP must maintain its identity as a strong opposition force rather than align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“It is unfair and inappropriate for a party of PDP’s stature to support the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu,” he said.
He, however, expressed hope that ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party would prioritize unity and strengthen its role as a credible alternative, noting that “reason should prevail over emotions” in the process.
