Jonathan “Must be Sad” as PDP Collapses — Dickson

David Egbede, March 25, 2026March 25, 2026

Former Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, has expressed concern over the state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying former President Goodluck Jonathan “must be very sad” witnessing the party’s decline.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Dickson said: “What I can say is that President Jonathan, while I’m not his spokesman, must be very sad.”

He added: “If I’m sad, having been this attached to the PDP, you can imagine how sad he will be… and right before your eyes, that platform is evaporating.”

The senator, who recently defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), described the new party as a viable alternative for Nigerians seeking credible opposition.

“So, my dear Nigerians, you now have a credible alternative opposition party known as the Nigeria Democratic Congress… thank God it has finally arrived,” he said.

Responding to claims that he abandoned the PDP, Dickson insisted his exit was not voluntary, stating: “It wouldn’t be correct to say that we are leaving the PDP… the PDP, rather unfortunately, has left us… the platform has evaporated and ceased to exist.”

The PDP has faced prolonged internal crises, leading to factional disputes and a wave of defections that have significantly weakened the party’s structure.
