Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year tenure at Anfield.
The 33-year-old made the announcement on Tuesday via an emotional video shared on X, putting to rest months of speculation about his future.

“Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come,” Salah said in the message. “This is the first part of my farewell: I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”
Salah, who joined the club from AS Roma in 2017, has become one of the Premier League’s most celebrated players. With 255 goals in 435 appearances, he ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time scorers list, behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

The club also confirmed his departure in an official statement, noting that an agreement had been reached for Salah to leave when his contract expires. Reflecting on his time at Anfield, he spoke emotionally about his bond with Liverpool and its supporters.
“I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people, would become part of my life,” he said.

“Liverpool, it’s not just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a history. It’s a spirit. I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club.”
