David Egbede, March 19, 2026

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun says it has deployed 1,750 personnel to protect lives and property before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke.

According to the statement, the State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure adequate security coverage across the state during the celebration.

Sotiyo emphasised the need for vigilance and proactive security measures during the celebration.

He said the deployment forms part of the corps’ deliberate strategy to guarantee the safety of residents and visitors during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.

Sotiyo said officers and men of the corps have been strategically stationed at markets, recreational centres, critical national assets, and other public places to maintain peace and order.

The commandant further explained that the deployment was designed to forestall any security breach during the festive period.

Sotiyo added that Area Commanders and Divisional Officers are expected to supervise and monitor deployed personnel, ensuring professionalism, vigilance, and courtesy in the discharge of their duties.

He also called on parents, community leaders, and religious bodies to support security efforts by cautioning youths against misconduct that could threaten public peace.

Sotiyo advised residents to remain calm and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies, assuring that the command is fully prepared to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all.
