Manchester United boosted their push for a UEFA Champions League place with a convincing 3–1 victory over Aston Villa in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The first half ended goalless, but the game came alive after the break when Casemiro headed United into the lead in the 53rd minute from a corner delivered by captain Bruno Fernandes.

Villa responded in the 64th minute when Ross Barkley fired home the equaliser to briefly silence the home crowd. However, United quickly regained control of the match.

Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha restored the hosts’ lead in the 71st minute after being set up by Fernandes, who delivered another decisive pass. Substitute Benjamin Šeško then sealed the win with a late goal to make it 3–1.

Fernandes played a key role in the victory, registering two assists and reaching 100 assists for United in all competitions while also setting a new club record for most Premier League assists in a single season.

The result moves United further ahead in the race for Champions League qualification, strengthening their hold on third place with 54 points, while Villa remain just behind in the battle for the top four.
