Chief Samuel Ortom rallies PDP stakeholders ahead of 2027 e-registration push Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has called on party stakeholders, local government officials, and aspirants to actively engage in the upcoming PDP e-registration exercise.
The appeal was made on Sunday during the PDP Expanded Caucus Meeting in Makurdi.
Ortom, who leads the party in Benue, emphasized that only members with the new membership card would be eligible to participate in the forthcoming party primaries.
The e-registration is set to begin on Monday and will run for two weeks.
He highlighted that the new Electoral Act now requires all political parties to conduct direct primaries, ending the era of indirect primaries via the electoral college system.
On the PDP-APC strategic partnership in Benue, Ortom noted that current state circumstances necessitate collaboration. “As leaders, we cannot allow Benue to suffer due to poor governance.
We urge all groups to unite and work as a team to secure victory in the 2027 elections,” he said.
Ortom reiterated that moving forward, candidate selection will either be by consensus or through direct primaries.
Earlier, Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro, praised the PDP-APC alliance, citing the state’s security challenges and underdevelopment.
He called on party members to support the partnership and ensure a strong turnout for the e-registration.
