Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have apprehended a suspected high-profile criminal during a security operation in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The arrest was revealed on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X.
According to the report, the suspect was captured during an intelligence-driven operation carried out by troops in Agasha village on March 13, 2026.
Security sources said the operation followed credible intelligence about an alleged attack on a local resident identified as Shaapera Seeta Michael.
Acting on the information, soldiers from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion XI, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke, were deployed to track down the suspect.
Upon arriving in the village, the troops reportedly sealed off the area to prevent any escape before conducting a targeted search.
During the operation, the suspect, identified as Suurnen David Akum, 27, a resident of Agasha village, was arrested. Security operatives also recovered a locally made rifle from him.
The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Moses Gara, praised the troops for their professionalism and urged them to remain vigilant while sustaining efforts to keep criminal elements out of the area.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue before he is handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
