David Egbede, March 12, 2026March 12, 2026

The Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission has approved the appointment of 31 Sharia Court Judges and the conversion of 16 judiciary staff to the Inspectorate cadre of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

This is contained in a statement  to newsmen on Thursday in Bauchi, by secretary of the states’ Judicial service commission, Dr. Ibrahim Danjuma.

He said that the decision was reached during its emergency meeting held on March 11, as part of efforts to strengthen administration of justice in the state’s Sharia court system.

A breakdown of the appointments shows that 15 judges were allocated to Bauchi South, eight judges to Bauchi Central, and eight judges to Bauchi North.

Similarly, the commission approved the change of cadre for 16 staff  from the registrar’s cadre to the inspectorate cadre, to serve as Inspectors in the Sharia Court of Appeal.

The commission explained that the appointments followed a rigorous screening and interview exercise conducted in November 2025, during which candidates were assessed and those found qualified were recommended for the positions.

It noted that the move was aimed at strengthening the capacity of the judiciary and improving the effective administration of justice within the Sharia court system in the state.

The commission congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, diligence, and professionalism, in line with  judicial ethical standards.

The commission also urged the new appointees to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and the rule of law, in the discharge of their duties.

Hr noted that a date for swearing-in of the newly appointed judges would be announced later.
