David Egbede, March 10, 2026

Rivers West Senator Ipalibo Banigo has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Banigo made the announcement during Senate plenary on Tuesday, March 10, confirming her resignation from the opposition party.

The lawmaker explained that her decision was driven by her desire to politically align with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

She also said she wants to support efforts to advance development in Rivers State.

In the letter, which was read on the floor of the Senate by Akpabio, the lawmaker further stated that her decision to join the APC followed extensive consultations with her constituents and political associates.
