The Rivers State House of Assembly has concluded the screening of commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, confirming five candidates while rejecting four others.
The confirmed nominees are Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor, Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Amairigha Edward Hart.
Those who did not secure confirmation include Datonye Alasia, Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree.
The screening process, which took place at the Assembly complex, involved a rigorous assessment of the nominees’ credentials, professional background, and suitability for the commissioner roles. Lawmakers cited various reasons for rejecting the four candidates, including concerns over experience and documentation.
Governor Fubara had forwarded the list of nine nominees to the House earlier this month for evaluation and confirmation, as part of his ongoing efforts to fill key positions in his administration.
The confirmation of the five nominees marks a significant step forward for the state government, enabling the appointees to assume responsibilities in their respective ministries.
