The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation Hadin Kai to intensify offensive operations against terrorist groups operating in Nigeria’s North-East.
Shaibu gave the directive during an operational visit to Maiduguri over the weekend, where he met with troops deployed in the region and assessed ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
During the visit, the army chief commended the soldiers for their courage and resilience in protecting civilians despite persistent security threats in the area.

He urged the troops to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations while strengthening intelligence gathering and improving coordination among security units in the theatre.
The COAS also stressed the need for heightened vigilance as the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan progresses, noting that terrorist groups often attempt to exploit the period to carry out attacks.
Earlier, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Abdulsalam Abubakar, briefed the army chief on recent operations and the current security situation in the region.
Abubakar assured the army chief that troops remain committed to restoring lasting peace in the North-East despite what he described as isolated operational setbacks.
He added that personnel deployed in the theatre continue to demonstrate professionalism and determination in ongoing efforts to defeat insurgent groups and protect communities across the region.
