In an unforgettable FA Cup fifth‑round tie at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday evening, Chelsea came from behind to defeat Wrexham 4‑2 after extra time and book their place in the quarter‑final draw.

The Championship side twice took the lead through Sam Smith and Callum Doyle, with the Blues responding via an own goal and a strike from Josh Acheampong to force extra time.

Alejandro Garnacho then put Chelsea ahead in the extra period, and João Pedro sealed the win with a late finish to send the London club through.

Wrexham made life extremely difficult for the Premier League visitors, twice shocking the visitors and nearly dragging the tie into a replay.

A dramatic sequence including a red card and key VAR decisions added to the Cup drama before Chelsea’s experience prevailed.
