David Egbede, March 6, 2026March 6, 2026

A Tech giant Google has broadened the language capabilities of its AI-powered Search in Nigeria to include Yorùbá and Hausa.

The company stated that the update will enable speakers of these Nigerian languages to interact with AI search tools in their native tongue, providing quick summaries and a more conversational way to explore information online.

Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa, announced the development in a statement on Thursday. He noted that the initiative is part of Google’s wider strategy to make Artificial Intelligence more inclusive across Africa.

According to him, the new addition raises the total number of African languages supported by the company’s AI Search features to 13.

Kola-Ogunlade emphasized that the update will allow more Nigerians to engage with AI Search in languages they are comfortable with while accessing information online.
