Operation HADIN KAI: Army Warns Terrorists Recycling Old Reports Amid Offensive

David Egbede, March 3, 2026March 3, 2026

The Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI has warned that remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are circulating recycled media reports and old photographs in a bid to mislead the public about their capabilities.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the task force, stated in a press release on Tuesday, that some of the recirculated content, including a 9 July 2020 report by YNaija, falsely claimed attacks on Nigerian soldiers.

He clarified, “These materials are not recent and do not reflect the present operational situation. At no point recently has Operation HADIN KAI lost 20 soldiers. The terrorists are in disarray due to sustained, coordinated air and ground assaults.”

According to the task force, troops delivered significant blows to terrorist enclaves and logistics networks in the past week. Operations at Miyanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram saw insurgents attempting to regroup but being overwhelmingly engaged, resulting in the neutralization of numerous fighters.

Troops recovered weapons including anti-aircraft platforms, rocket bombs, machine guns, and assorted rifles abandoned by fleeing insurgents.

In another notable achievement, troops intercepted logistics supplies and ₦37 million in cash at Chabbal checkpoint, funds intended to sustain terrorist operations. At Komala in Konduga Local Government Area, sixteen insurgents were neutralized, and critical equipment including bicycles, weapons, and other logistical items were seized and destroyed.

Lt. Col. Uba noted, “Unable to withstand the overwhelming operational pressure, the terrorists have now resorted to psychological warfare, recycling outdated images and misleading publications to project a false sense of strength.”

The Joint Task Force urged the public and media organizations to verify information from credible sources before sharing content, emphasizing that citizens should remain calm, continue lawful activities, and support security agencies with timely and actionable information.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to the total defeat of terrorism and the restoration of lasting peace and stability in Nigeria’s North East.
