The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo State House of Assembly by-elections conducted on Saturday in Kano State.

In Kano Municipal Constituency, the APC candidate, Aliyu Daneji, polled 7,484 votes to emerge winner. The Returning Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Siraj, declared Daneji duly elected on Sunday, after the collation of results.

Similarly, in Ungogo Constituency, APC’s Aminu Sa’ad won the seat with 8,975 votes. The Returning Officer for the constituency, Prof. Ali Abdullahi, announced Sa’ad as the duly elected representative.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano State, Amb. Abdu Zango, attributed the low voter turnout recorded during the exercise to several factors, including the timing of the election and limited participation by political parties.

The by-elections were conducted to fill vacancies created by the sudden deaths of the lawmakers who previously represented the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in the State House of Assembly.
