The ruling All Progressives Congress on Monday firmly dismissed what it described as unfounded claims of a major shake-up to its 2027 presidential ticket.
In a strongly worded statement released on Monday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, condemned what he called a “media frenzy” aimed at creating division within the ruling party.
The APC said it was angered by reports that went beyond speculation to openly promote specific individuals as possible replacements for Vice President Kashim Shettima. The APC leadership categorically labelled these stories as a coordinated attempt by “mischievous news sources” to distract the government.
Reminding political actors that the ban on 2027 electioneering remains in full force, the APC insisted its eyes are firmly on the ball – President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
”Our Party states in categorical terms that the stories are purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless,” Morka said.
The party warned that while speculations about the next election continue, the administration remains focused on fixing the economy and improving citizens’ lives.
It also urged the media to avoid amplifying “rumour-peddlers” whose only aim is to stir instability, reaffirming its total loyalty to President Tinubu as an “inimitable and visionary leader.”
