Brighton Hammer Chelsea 3-0 as Fan Fury Mounts Over Rosenior

Soliu Oyesiji, April 21, 2026

Brighton & Hove Albion delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chelsea 3-0, deepening the visitors’ struggles and piling pressure on manager Liam Rosenior.

Goals from Ferdi Kadıoğlu, Jack Hinshelwood and substitute Danny Welbeck sealed a comfortable win at the Amex Stadium, lifting Brighton above Chelsea into sixth place in the Premier League standings.

The defeat leaves Chelsea’s hopes of securing a UEFA Champions League spot hanging by a thread, with the Blues now seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool despite having played an extra match.

Frustration among travelling supporters boiled over during the second half, with chants directed at Rosenior as his side’s poor run extended to five league matches without a win or goal.

Chelsea struggled throughout the encounter, failing to register a single shot on target in what was a lacklustre attacking display. Injuries to key forwards Cole Palmer, Estevão Willian and João Pedro further compounded their difficulties.

In contrast, Brighton continued their impressive form, having now collected 19 points from their last eight matches as they push for European qualification.

Home fans added to Chelsea’s misery by ironically chanting in support of Rosenior, who began his coaching journey with the Seagulls, as Brighton celebrated a statement victory.
