David Egbede, April 21, 2026

Troops of the Joint Task Force South-South, operating under Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), have recovered 3,250 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products during an anti-bunkering mission in Eleme Local Government Area.

The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X, citing military sources. According to the report, the discovery was made on April 20 by troops of LCSF MST 1/2 along Refinery Road in Eleme during a routine patrol.

The substances are believed to be linked to illegal refining and bunkering activities in the area. Recovered items were handled in accordance with OPDS operational guidelines.

Sources further noted that security forces are intensifying anti-illegal bunkering operations across the Niger Delta to combat economic sabotage and safeguard critical national infrastructure.
