Court Frees Pretty Mike as NDLEA Fails to Prove Drug Allegations

David Egbede, April 15, 2026April 15, 2026

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi has discharged nightclub owner Pretty Mike and his associate, Joachim Hillary, after ruling that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency failed to establish a case against them.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Alagoa upheld a no-case submission filed by the defence, bringing the drug-related trial to an early end.

The duo had been accused of conspiracy, unlawful possession of drugs, and allowing illicit substances at a nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the NDLEA, a raid carried out on October 26 allegedly uncovered 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide and a quantity of cannabis, which the agency linked to a suspected illegal drug party.

However, defence counsel argued that the prosecution failed to present credible evidence or proving ownership, control, or awareness of the substances.

In his ruling, the judge agreed, stating that the evidence fell short of the legal threshold required to sustain the charges. Both defendants were consequently discharged without being called to enter a defence.
