The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction led by David Mark has announced the expulsion of several prominent members, including former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide.
The decision was made during the party’s National Convention held in Abuja on Tuesday. Other expelled members include Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu.
The development comes amid an ongoing leadership dispute within the party, as Bala continues to insist he is the legitimate National Chairman, despite claims of his prior resignation.
He had earlier led a protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling on political heavyweights such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Mark to steer clear of the party, accusing them of attempting to hijack its structure.
The crisis further escalated after a suit filed by Bala prompted INEC to withdraw recognition of the Mark-led leadership, intensifying uncertainty over the party’s direction ahead of future elections.
