The All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing to welcome 8,453 delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory at its 2026 National Convention, scheduled for March 27–28 in Abuja.

Party officials say the scale of participation reflects the APC’s commitment to inclusivity, policy engagement, and leadership renewal.

At a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Co-chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee and Minister of Information and National Orientation, described the convention as more than a routine political exercise.

“The convention brings together delegates from across the country for policy discussions, leadership elections, and a formal transition to a new set of party executives. It is a moment of reflection, consolidation, and direction-setting for the next phase of our journey,” he said.

Idris assured Nigerians and the international community that arrangements have been completed for a smooth, credible convention at Eagle Square. “Committees have finalized their assignments, operational systems are in place, and every detail has been attended to so proceedings will be free of avoidable disruptions,” he noted.

The briefing also recognized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting his contributions to the party’s growth and governance agenda. Idris emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains central, guiding both party policies and national development. “The convention is an opportunity to deepen this agenda within our leadership and institutional structures, ensuring alignment of party and government objectives,” he said.

He added that the convention’s theme, “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda”, reflects the party’s journey and forward-looking vision. “It is a concise statement of who we are, where we have come from, and where we intend to go,” Idris explained.

Over the years, the APC has demonstrated resilience through electoral cycles, leadership transitions, and national challenges. Idris said strengthened governance structures, clear rules, accountability, and broad stakeholder participation ensure stability and predictable outcomes.

“One of the clearest tests of a mature party is how it manages change. APC has shown it can handle growth, diversity, and high expectations in an orderly, structured manner,” he said.

The minister reiterated the party’s focus on unity, discipline, and progress.

“This convention will highlight our achievements under President Tinubu, reinforce our democratic practices, and showcase the APC as a broad-based, inclusive platform. Diversity is our strength, and unity of purpose drives our collective commitment to national development,” Idris said.
