14 Killed in Kebbi Boat Accident After Wedding Ceremony

At least 14 people have lost their lives in a boat accident in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The incident occurred in Gumbi village, Gumbi Ward, as wedding guests were returning from accompanying a bride to her husband’s home in Gwarzo village, Ngaski LGA.

Reports indicate that the boat, carrying over 100 passengers, capsized, resulting in the deaths of 13 women and one child.

Governor Nasir Idris, who attended the funeral prayer, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the local government, the emirate, and the people of Yauri.

Represented at the ceremony by the Chairman of Yauri Local Government, Abubakar Shu’aibu, the governor urged the community to accept the tragedy with faith, emphasizing the role of divine will.

“God does what He wants at the time He wants, and nobody has the right to question Him,” he said, praying for forgiveness for the departed and comfort for their families.
