President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian-American basketball star Ejimofor Anosike following his standout performance in China’s National Basketball League Championship.
Anosike, who plays for the Hong Kong Bulls, led his team to the 2026 NBL title and swept multiple individual honours, including Finals Most Valuable Player, Best International Player and Slam Dunk Champion.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the achievement as a reflection of talent, discipline and resilience.
“Anosike’s accomplishments demonstrate exceptional ability and determination, and his success on the international stage brings pride and honour to Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
The President noted that the player’s exploits highlight the growing global influence of Nigerian athletes and underscore the importance of sustained investment in sports development.
“His achievements reflect the increasing impact of Nigerians in global sports and the need to continue supporting youth development and sporting excellence,” he added.
Tinubu also commended Anosike for maintaining a strong connection to his roots, particularly through his contributions to Nigeria’s national basketball team, D’Tigers.
“I commend him for not allowing international success to overshadow his patriotism, as shown in his commitment to representing Nigeria,” the President said.
He wished the basketball star continued success and greater accomplishments in the years ahead.
