President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in London for his state visit, where he is expected to hold a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, touched down at Stansted Airport, where they were received by Mr Mark Bevan, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex, on behalf of King Charles III, as well as Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Mohammed Maidugu.

Tinubu’s visit, at the invitation of the British monarch, underscores the longstanding diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with both nations expected to explore deeper cooperation across key sectors.
During the visit, the President is scheduled to engage with senior UK government officials, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, alongside meetings with business leaders and members of the Nigerian diaspora. Discussions are expected to focus on trade and investment, security collaboration, education, and technological innovation.

The trip also carries historic significance, marking the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the United Kingdom in nearly four decades, and reflecting renewed efforts by the Tinubu administration to strengthen international partnerships amid ongoing economic reforms.
A state banquet is expected to be held in honour of the President, in addition to other diplomatic and economic engagements lined up during the visit.
