David Egbede, March 6, 2026

Suspected political thugs have reportedly set fire to a ward office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ubima community, the hometown of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

In a video circulating on social media, some residents were heard condemning security operatives for allegedly failing to arrest those responsible for the attack.

The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Friday in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The ADC facility was said to house materials intended for local party activities.

The attack occurred just hours before Amaechi was scheduled to formally register with the party at the ward level.

As of time of filling this report, Amaechi has just arrived in Port Harcourt ahead of his African Democratic Congress, ADC, registration.
