The senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Barinada Mpigi, has died.
Mr Mpigi reportedly passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 64 after battling a prolonged illness.
The death was confirmed by his colleague, Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South Senatorial District. Onawo announced the development during a Senate committee meeting attended by the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa.
Musawa was before the committee to present and defend her ministry’s 2025 budget proposal when the announcement was made.
