Police Parade Suspected Criminals, Reaffirm Commitment to Crime Fight

Soliu Oyesiji, April 21, 2026April 21, 2026

The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its resolve to combat crime nationwide, unveiling major breakthroughs during its first quarter press briefing of the year.

At the briefing, police authorities paraded several suspected hardened criminals linked to a range of serious offences, including kidnapping, murder, car theft, and the vandalism and theft of railway components, commonly referred to as rail sleepers.

The crimes, which have posed significant threats to public safety and critical national infrastructure, had been under investigation for several months.

Addressing journalists, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) acknowledged that some of the cases experienced delays due to their complexity. “Some of these investigations took longer than expected because of their intricate nature and the level of intelligence gathering required,” he said.

He, however, emphasized that operatives remained resolute. “Despite the challenges, our officers stayed committed. Through sustained surveillance, strategic operations, and collaboration with other security agencies, we were able to track down and apprehend the suspects,” he added.

The police spokesperson noted that the arrests underscore the Force’s growing capacity to tackle evolving security challenges.

“These successes clearly demonstrate our increasing ability to respond to emerging threats. Criminal networks operating across state lines are being systematically dismantled,” he stated.

He further assured that efforts are ongoing to bring other perpetrators to justice. “Investigations into related crimes are still in progress, and we are intensifying efforts to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large,” the FPRO said.

Reaffirming the Force’s commitment, he concluded, “The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its duty to protect the lives and property of all citizens and to uphold law and order across the country.”
