The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has rescued 14 victims abducted by sea pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.

The victims were freed during a coordinated operation driven by intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within the maritime corridor.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid.

According to the police, joint operatives intensified surveillance and conducted targeted raids across identified flashpoints following credible intelligence. The effort led to the safe rescue of all 14 victims without injury.

Authorities confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical examinations and debriefing procedures before being reunited with their families.

Commending the operation, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, described the success as a testament to effective collaboration among security agencies.

He noted that the outcome underscored “the strength of intelligence-led operations and robust inter-agency collaboration in tackling maritime crime.”

The police further assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the abduction.

“The Nigeria Police Force assures the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend all perpetrators involved in the abduction and bring them to justice,” the statement added.
