The National Sports Commission (NSC) on Monday, inaugurated the newly elected Board of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria following a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
Mall. Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the NSC, described the successful election as a major milestone in the Commission’s ongoing efforts to maintain stable and functional sports federations in line with the mandate of the President.

“This inauguration marks another step in our drive to ensure that Nigerian sports federations operate efficiently and transparently,” Dikko said.
The NSC Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, expressed confidence in the new board, highlighting its blend of experience and dedication to grassroots sports development.
“The composition of this board reflects both experience and passion for nurturing sports talent from the grassroots to the elite level,” Olopade stated.
Barr. Francis Orbih, President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, thanked the NSC for its support and pledged that the new board would work to elevate the standard of badminton in the country.
“We are committed to raising the profile of badminton in Nigeria and ensuring our athletes achieve their full potential,” Orbih said.
Chairman Dikko also urged federation members and stakeholders to resolve differences through dialogue, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the growing confidence of the private sector in Nigerian sports.
“Let all stakeholders embrace dialogue and unity to protect the trust and investment of the private sector in our sports,” he added.
The inauguration signals a renewed focus on structured governance and development within Nigerian badminton, aligning with the broader vision of advancing sports nationwide.
