The Nigerian Air Force says it has intensified ongoing military operations against insurgents in the North-East, carrying out a precision air strike that destroyed suspected terrorist hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area.
According to a statement by the Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame Air Commodore, the operation—conducted by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI—took place on April 24 at about 6:50 p.m. over Ali Sheriffti, described as a known terrorist enclave. The mission followed credible intelligence on insurgent activity in the area.
Air surveillance reportedly identified several individuals moving along concealed routes, who were subsequently tracked to structures hidden under dense vegetation. The Air Force said the concealment indicated deliberate efforts to evade detection.
“Following positive identification, the NAF executed a precise strike, engaging the structures with onboard munitions,” the statement said, adding that the targeted locations were destroyed during the operation.
The Air Force noted that the strike was part of sustained efforts to degrade the operational capacity of insurgent groups and restrict their movement within the region.
Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ongoing operations, stating that the force would continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach,” he said.
Military authorities added that air operations in the region would continue with increased intensity as part of broader efforts to improve security and protect civilians.
