David Egbede, March 9, 2026March 9, 2026

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Monday confirmed a tanker fire at the T-Junction leading to Temu Epe.

The agency reassured the public that emergency responders were on site handling the situation.

In an official statement shared on its X account, LASTMA said: “A tanker is burning at T-Junction inward Temu Epe, but there’s no cause for alarm. Firefighters are already on the scene to extinguish the fire, while LASTMA and FRSC officers are managing traffic to ensure smooth vehicular movement.”

Footage shared by the agency showed the tanker engulfed in flames and thick smoke rising from the site, while traffic along the route came to a standstill.

Vehicles, trailers, tankers, tricycles and okadas were forced to divert to alternative routes as officers worked to maintain order.

In a follow-up video, fire personnel were seen successfully extinguishing the blaze, which had completely destroyed the tanker.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the fire as of the time of filing this report.

LASTMA urged motorists to remain calm and adhere to traffic instructions while emergency services continue to monitor and secure the area.
