Rev. Sunday Bobai Agang, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), has regained his freedom after being abducted from his residence in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.
The development was confirmed by ECWA’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Danjuma Auta, who disclosed that the cleric is now safe following his release.
“We wish to announce with immense gratitude and joy the release of our dear pastor, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, who was abducted by unknown gunmen.
We are delighted to confirm that he has regained his freedom and is currently safe,” the statement read.
The church expressed gratitude to God, describing the development as a reflection of divine faithfulness and the impact of collective prayers, while also appreciating members and supporters who stood by them during the difficult period.
However, ECWA noted that the incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the country.
“The rising wave of kidnapping, which has sadly become a means of livelihood for some, is a threat to our collective existence and must be addressed urgently,” the statement said.
The church further called on authorities at all levels to take decisive steps in tackling insecurity and safeguarding lives and property.
“It is imperative that decisive and sustained actions be taken to dismantle the criminal networks behind these heinous acts and restore peace and security across the country,” the statement added.
Rev. Agang was abducted earlier in the week from his residence in Farin Gada, Jos, before regaining his freedom.
