Aminu Bande, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 governorship candidate in Kebbi State, has officially resigned from the party.
The retired Major General announced his decision in a letter to the PDP ward chairman of Nasarawa I, Birnin Kebbi, citing “deep consideration, reflection, and consultations” with associates and key stakeholders.
“I write to formally tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective today, Sunday, 5th April, 2026,” Bande stated in the letter.
Bande, who ran against incumbent Governor Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, explained that his exit was aimed at aligning with his supporters’ wishes and pursuing “a more stable platform” for advancing good governance in Kebbi State and Nigeria.
While he has not confirmed his next political move, speculation suggests he may join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
