JAMB Explains ‘No Result Yet’ Status, Withholds Scores of Underage Candidates

Soliu Oyesiji, April 22, 2026

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that candidates receiving the “No Result Yet” notification are largely underage applicants whose results have not been released.

In a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board said it had received several inquiries from concerned parents over the status displayed by some candidates during result checks.

He explained that the development is in line with existing regulations guiding participation in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

“Results for underage candidates have not been released. When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet,’” he said.

Benjamin reiterated that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to sit for the examination.

He, however, noted that exceptional cases may be considered under a special provision for gifted candidates.

“Underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80 per cent in subsequent screening stages,” he stated.

According to him, the arrangement was reached in agreement with parents of the affected candidates, adding that only those who meet the high-performance threshold would proceed to the next stage of assessment.

“In line with this agreement, only candidates who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited for further screening. Those who succeed at that stage may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates provision,” he added.

The board maintained that, for now, results of all underage candidates will remain withheld pending the outcome of the screening process.
