The Accord Party has denied taking part in the recent coalition meeting of 14 political parties held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where discussions reportedly centered on presenting a joint presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, on Monday, the party said it had no knowledge of the gathering and did not delegate any representative, nor did it endorse any of the decisions reached.
“It is both unfair and misleading to include a political party in a coalition it did not participate in,” the statement noted.
Accord condemned the organisers for listing the party among attendees despite no involvement from its national leadership, stressing that it has no connection with the Ibadan summit.
The party also cautioned political actors against actions that could raise tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that while coalitions are legitimate, they should only involve willing participants.
Describing the situation as embarrassing, Accord demanded that its name be removed from any association with the meeting.
It added that its priority remains upcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states, as well as preparations for the 2027 polls, insisting it will not be sidetracked by what it described as unnecessary political distractions.
The party urged Nigerians to stay united in building a stronger democratic future.
