The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed the arrest of four suspected bandits around the vicinity of Akure Airport following a coordinated security operation involving aviation and local security agencies.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, FAAN said the suspects were apprehended after a distress alert reported suspicious individuals behind the airport perimeter towards the Eleyeowo community.
According to the agency, security personnel drawn from FAAN’s Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force immediately launched a joint search operation in response to the alert.

During the operation, some of the suspects attempted to flee the area but were eventually captured by the joint security team. FAAN confirmed that the four suspects have been handed over to the police area command for further interrogation.
The authority commended the swift collaboration among aviation security personnel, the military, police, and local security groups including Amotekun and community vigilantes whose joint efforts led to the arrest.
