The remains of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, have arrived in Abuja ahead of her burial.
She passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday, March 27, 2026, after a brief illness.
Her grandson, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, confirmed the arrival of the body and burial arrangements in a statement shared on his X handle.
“This is to notify the general public that the remains of our grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, have safely landed in Abuja,” he wrote.
The Janazah (funeral) prayer is scheduled to take place at the National Mosque Abuja at 1:00 pm, after which she will be laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in the Apo area of Abuja.
Condolences have continued to pour in, with several prominent figures visiting the El-Rufai family, including Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Abubakar Malami, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, among others.
