African champions D’Tigress began their campaign at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament with a commanding 70–37 victory over Colombia.
The team, coached by Rena Wakama, dominated most of the contest and stayed in control for three quarters of the game. Nigeria took an early 18–12 lead in the first quarter, although Colombia responded with a stronger performance in the second.
However, D’Tigress regained control after the break, winning both the third and fourth quarters to seal an emphatic victory.
The West Africans will face Korea in their next match on Thursday.
They are also scheduled to take on the Philippines, France, and Germany later in the tournament.
