Christopher Musa, has ordered the service chiefs to visit the North-West and North-East regions to reorganize and strengthen military operations.
The directive was issued during a meeting on Wednesday at the Ministry of Defence, where Musa met with the service chiefs to address the escalating security challenges in these regions.
Timothy Antigha, the minister’s media adviser, told newsmen that the service chiefs are expected to report their findings and recommendations after visiting the security-affected geopolitical zones.
In recent weeks, terrorist attacks have intensified, with military bases frequently targeted and several personnel killed.
On Monday, fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) killed a Nigerian Army commanding officer during an assault on a military facility in Kukawa LGA, Borno State. The following day, Nigerian Army troops successfully repelled an early-morning attack by suspected ISWAP fighters on another military base in the same area.
