David Egbede, May 2, 2026May 2, 2026

The Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Mathew Audu, has donated cash  to families and survivors of attacks in Jos North and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau.

The Archbishop, who commiserated with the victims, presented the cash ranging from N30,000 to N50,000 separately to the beneficiaries on Saturday.

RBN reports that gumen recently attacked Angwan Rukubu and some other communities in Jos North and Barkin Ladi LGAs.

The insurgents killed some persons and injured many others during the attacks.

Audu said that the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effect of the attacks on the survivors and their families.

“This gesture is our way of identifying with those who are affected by the recent attacks in Jos North and Barkin Ladi; it is a show of solidarity.

“What we are giving cannot be compared to the loses incured, but it is our token of support and solidarity.

“Families who lost their loved ones will get N50,000 each, while the injured will have N30,00 each,” he said.

The prelate, however, called on residents of the affected communities to unite across religious lines and collectively defeat their enemies.

The Archbishop also called on the people to emulate Jesus by forgiving their enemies, eschew violence and embrace peace.

“Even if they bring a military or police barrack here, if you don’t agree to live together, there won’t be peace.

“But the day you agree, even without the security, you can live in peace with each other.

“The youths must also adopt mutual trust; you must come together to collectively protect your communities,” he advised.

Audu further advised residents of Plateau and Nigerians in general to properly use the social media, particularly in reporting the security situation in Plateau.
