Arsenal Edge Closer to Premier League Title as Saka Secures 1-0 Win at Brighton

David Egbede, March 5, 2026

Arsenal demonstrated they don’t always need set-pieces to decide matches as Bukayo Saka netted the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over Brighton, moving the Premier League leaders a step closer to the title on Wednesday.

Saka, 24, marked a personal milestone by becoming the fourth youngest player to reach 300 appearances for Arsenal, with his first-half strike—deflected off a defender—proving enough to secure the crucial win at the Amex Stadium.

Despite periods of underwhelming play, Mikel Arteta’s side relied on their work ethic and defensive discipline to maintain a seven-point cushion over second-placed Manchester City.

The reigning champions’ 2-2 draw with struggling Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium further strengthened Arsenal’s grip on the title race.

Although City have a game in hand and will host Arsenal in April, the Gunners have now recorded three consecutive league wins, silencing doubts about their ability to handle the pressure of a championship run.
