Army Launches Special Operation to Combat Banditry and Crime in Bauchi

The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, has inaugurated a special operation to tackle banditry and other security challenges in Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State.

Lt.-Col. Victor Olukoya, the acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations of the division, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Jos.

He revealed that Maj.-Gen. Folunsho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the division inuagrated the operation.

Olukoya said that the special operation, codenamed “Operation Bugun Karkanda III” aimed at restoring lasting peace to Alkaleri and environs.

“The operation, which is focused on restoring peace and security in vulnerable communities, specifically targeted Mansur village and surrounding settlements within Alkaleri LGA.

“It is a decisive move to curb the activities of terrorists, bandits and other non-state actors threatening the safety of residents in Bauchi state,” he said.

Olukoya, who explained that the GOC had charged troops to be at the top of their game, described the move as a renewed military posture aimed at delivering tangible results.

“The GOC underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army to safety of lives and property and reaffirmes the division’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable communities across its area of responsibility,” he noted.

Olukoya further said that the operation had began yielding results, as troops had recorded some positive strides.
