The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed a suit seeking to stop Senator Ireti Kingibe from presenting herself as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Presiding judge, Justice Peter Lifu, adjourned the matter to June 9, 2026, following a request by the plaintiffs’ counsel, I.G. Ogugwa, who argued the case was not pre-election related and needed more time.
Earlier, the court had declined an interim request to restrain Kingibe, instead directing that she be put on notice to defend why the reliefs sought against her should not be granted.
The suit was filed by two ADC executives in Wuse Ward, Abuja, who accused the senator of anti-party activities, misconduct, and disregarding her suspension by the ward leadership.
According to the plaintiffs, despite her suspension, Kingibe allegedly continued to act as an ADC member, holding meetings and issuing statements, actions they claim have deepened tensions within the party.
