Police Reopen PDP Headquarters as Wike-Backed Leadership Regains Control

David Egbede, April 11, 2026April 11, 2026

The Nigeria Police Force has reopened the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, restoring control to the party’s leadership in line with a court directive.

The affected properties—Wadata Plaza in Zone 5 and Legacy House in Maitama—have now been handed back to the National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Takushara, and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

This development effectively ends the recent standoff over the party’s headquarters, with the faction aligned to Nyesom Wike now firmly back in charge both legally and physically.

In a statement, PDP spokesman Jungudo Haruna Mohammed commended the police for upholding the rule of law, describing the move as a reflection of due process and constitutional order.

However, the party issued a warning against any further disruption at the secretariat, stressing that security agencies have been placed on alert to prevent a breakdown of peace.

The PDP also called on all aggrieved members to put aside their differences and unite, assuring supporters that the internal crisis has been resolved.

Party leadership further acknowledged the role of key stakeholders, particularly Nyesom Wike, whose support was described as crucial during the dispute.
