Court Suspends ADC Congresses in Adamawa Over Leadership Dispute

David Egbede, April 9, 2026April 9, 2026

A High Court in Adamawa State has ordered the suspension of congresses planned by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.

The congresses, which were scheduled to begin on Thursday, were halted following an order issued by Justice Ahmed Isah of High Court No. 6, pending the outcome of a case before the court.

The matter, set for hearing on April 15, was filed by the party’s state chairman, Yohanna Shehu, who is challenging his alleged exclusion from the planning process.

The controversy stems from the involvement of a leadership body — the state transition committee — said to be overseeing the congress arrangements under the leadership of Sadiq Dasin.

The court’s decision effectively puts all planned congress activities on hold until the dispute is resolved.
