The Nyesom Wike-supported faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged members to disregard a recent meeting between the Taminu Turaki-led faction and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, clarified that the meeting was not sanctioned by the PDP.
He stressed that the party has not engaged in any formal or informal discussions with the ADC or its representatives.
Mohammed added that participants in the meeting acted in their personal capacities and should not be considered official PDP representatives.
He called on members and the public to dismiss the claims, describing them as baseless and not reflective of the party’s stance.
“The party remains focused on its internal processes and its commitment to credible leadership for Nigerians,” he said, noting that preparations for PDP primaries are proceeding smoothly and that timelines and guidelines will be communicated in due course.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Turaki-led faction visited the David Mark-led ADC, describing the engagement as a solidarity visit ahead of the 2027 elections.
The two-hour meeting, held between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., focused on national developments and inter-party cooperation.
Notable attendees included former Minister of Information Prof. Jerry Gana, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, members of the PDP National Working Committee, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Other participants included former governors Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi, alongside ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, and other senior political figures.
