President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs and the Minister of Defence to track down those responsible for the killings in Plateau State and urgently reinforce security in the region.

Speaking during a town hall meeting in Jos, on Thursday, the President also announced the deployment of 5,000 CCTV cameras to improve surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response to threats.

Tinubu’s visit followed the deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, where over 28 people were killed on Palm Sunday.

Condemning the incident, he stated that he was elected not to create widows and widowers.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the attack as a setback, noting that the state had been enjoying relative peace and attracting investments prior to the incident.

He expressed optimism that, with federal support, Plateau would overcome the challenge.
Mutfwang also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies and revealed that key decisions had been taken at a recent Security Council meeting to address the crisis.
Former governor Jonah Jang called for a follow-up meeting with the President in Abuja to discuss lasting solutions, while warning against attempts to undermine upcoming elections.
Other stakeholders, including Simon Lalong and traditional ruler Da Jacob Gyang Buba, also delivered goodwill messages at the meeting.
