The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,280 personnel across all 16 local government areas to safeguard Easter celebrations.
Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga said the deployment aims to prevent disruptions of public order and deter mischief-makers during the festivities.
In a statement on Thursday, NSCDC spokesman Ayoola Michael Shola assured the public that personnel will be strategically visible at churches, motor parks, recreational centers, shopping complexes, and other key locations to prevent criminal activity.
Bodinga noted that surveillance and patrols have been intensified in both urban and rural areas, with rapid response units ready to address emerging threats. He urged officers to take firm action against those planning to vandalize national assets or disrupt public peace.
He warned that anyone attempting to disturb Easter celebrations will be apprehended and face the full force of the law. The commandant also extended Easter greetings to Christians and called on citizens to embrace the season’s values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence while cooperating with security agencies.
