The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has reiterated that payments for expression of interest and nomination forms for party positions are generally non-refundable.
Speaking on Friday on The Morning Show on Arise Television, Morka emphasized that aspirants are expected to understand the requirements of the positions they seek before making any payments.
He explained that the party assumes applicants are aware of the eligibility criteria, including the relevant constituencies tied to the offices they contest.
However, Morka acknowledged that there have been instances in the past where refunds were approved under exceptional circumstances. He added that while refunds are not standard practice, affected individuals can formally request reimbursement, which the party would consider on a case-by-case basis.
He said:
“You know, normally, ordinarily, these payments for expression of interests and nomination forms are not refundable. I mean, there are fees paid in the process because, you know, the party assumes, and you are presumed to know what you’re applying for.
“So if you apply for a position that’s not in your district, you know that’s really on you.
“But you know, I’m aware in the history of our party that there’s been occasions where the party had to make refunds, you know, on just some special considerations to those who paid this money.
“So I don’t rule that out, if the individual affected or concerned would make a request for, you know, refund. I’m sure that will be given due consideration by the party.”
